During the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s been imperative to stay home and social distance to avoid exposure and spread of the virus. However, this isolation can cause significant loneliness and social isolation. It’s critical to ensure social connection during these times. Here are some ways you can promote social engagement in your life and fight the effects of loneliness and isolation:
- Limit negative news consumption. Take breaks from watching news stories or browsing social media.
- Create a list of things you can do to reduce stress, anxiety and loneliness.
- Develop a social engagement plan to connect with loved ones, family and friends in a safe way.
- Stay physically healthy by exercising, getting enough sleep, eating health and avoiding drugs and alcohol.
